1. In Sue Jamison's Lloydminister, Saskatchewan's classroom she has organized editing in a very efficient manner. She and a colleague listed 45 errors they expected their Grade 6 students to find. They then wrote 3 sentences with each error. Once a week one student randomly selects 7 numbers between 1 and 45 and a letter from A to C. Then Sue merely goes into her word document with the sentences already written and copies/pastes the seven sentences into a new document to print for the students. Attached are photographs in Power Point that will further explain her very clever process.
2. Vickie Hedrick, from the Iredell-Statesville, NC school district wrote that the teachers at her school decided to use LtoJ for math EVERY day. The students and the teachers love the five daily questions, graphing and subsequent improvement.
3. In Fulton County, Georgia, Catherine White organized a unique structure for LtoJ Seminars. Instead of my normal two-day seminar, she had me meet with teachers four times throughout the school year. Each time we met was a one-half day presentation and then one-half day of work time for alignment and implementation. The first day of each visit was English, Social Studies and World Language teachers and the second day was Mathematics and Science. The structure provided collaboration time, new knowledge and necessary follow-up.
4. Enjoy the attached LtoJ photo from Australia. Fun.
5. The attached photo is the invitation of a principal to guests: Let me show you where we had All-Time-Bests in our school this week.
6. Type "Honda Video Commercial" into a search engine and watch an amazing video. I expect to use this to illustrate the power of alignment.
7. Paul Berggren, a Nebraska doctoral student wrote me using an updated phrase. You may like it. Instead of Data Driven Decision Making, he used the phrase Data Informed and Improvement Driven.
