2. Katie Ryan, of Cecil County, Maryland had taken the math powerpoint LtoJ quizzes from Council Bluffs, Iowa and added hyperlinks and answers. She has done this for grades 3,4 and 5. Go to www.ltojconsulting.com/seminardownloads.htm

3. Janelle Coady's publication, Continuous Improvement in the English Classroom, was published this week. The URL for ordering information is:

She is a high school English teacher at Norris High School, which is south of Lincoln, Nebraska.

5. At the very beginning of LtoJ seminars participants are asked to answer ten questions. Attached are the questions and the responses from 1266 teachers and administrators. Further, seminar participants are asked to rank the ten root causes from biggest problem to least problem and these rankings are placed on a control chart to determine which are special. The control chart showing three root causes as signficant problems is the last slide in the presentation.

Efficient First; Fair Second

We want students to complete the LtoJ graphs, not the teacher.  In order for this to happen, I recommend that teachers assign the same student or students to a particular graph for quite a while.  Once the process in the classroom is operating very efficiently, then fairness comes in to play and other students are given the graphing responsibility.  Attached is a photo of a second grade student creating the weekly histogram from studying the class scatter diagram.
